Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Yasuhiko Saito) has developed innovative silicone thermal interface materials that can be used in electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEV).
With the electrification of automobiles, the demand for heat dissipation measures for lithium-ion batteries and various other electronic control systems has become increasingly complex and diverse. With the accelerated development of electric vehicles worldwide, the number of thermal interface materials in automotive parts continues to increase, and their applications are also expanding. In response to the ever-changing market environment, Shin-Etsu Chemical has developed two new products with unique characteristics:
1. TC-PEN series: It has a significantly reduced density and a soft thermal interface pad, which can meet the high-level requirements of EV and HEV applications.
2. TC-SET series: It has a high thermal interface cushion and extremely low compression set characteristics.
Due to the unique technology, the density level is very low. Compared with traditional products, the weight of the "TC-PEN series" is reduced by about 15% while maintaining the same level of thermal conductivity and processability. The new product is lighter in weight and has excellent processing flexibility, making it suitable for use as a heat sink in electronic devices with uneven surfaces and large-area parts such as lithium-ion batteries.
"TC-SET series" maintains flexibility by maintaining low hardness and low compression set characteristics, which has been difficult to achieve in this technical field so far. Therefore, this new product is suitable for various electronic devices used in harsh automotive applications to realize heat dissipation. These electronic devices need to have long-term durability against vibration and low compression set characteristics.
In addition to innovative silicone cushions, Shin-Etsu also offers a wide range of other silicone thermal interface materials. Provide various types of thermal conductivity products, such as silicone rubber sheet, grease (oil compound), filler and liquid rubber (adhesive and potting agent). As a silicone manufacturer that can provide customers with various silicone thermal interface materials, Shin-Etsu Chemical can actively respond to the needs of various thermal countermeasures.
With the development of these new products, Shin-Etsu Chemical is continuing to meet customers' more complex requirements in areas such as technical support for thermal analysis technology, and Shin-Etsu Chemical is starting manufacturing and processing in IATF16949:2016* standard factories.
IATF 16949: 2016* is an international standard for automotive quality management systems.
