Porsche announced that it will form a new joint venture called Cellforce with German lithium-ion battery manufacturer Custom Cells to develop and produce high-performance battery packs for electric sports cars.
Porsche will invest tens of millions of euros and will control 83.75% of the joint venture. Porsche said that the new battery can be fully charged in 15 minutes. In contrast, Porsche’s Taycan model currently takes 22.5 minutes to charge the battery from 5% to 80%. Porsche will use silicon as the anode material to achieve higher energy density and more compact batteries.
