The history of bellows

The main types of rubber compression mold


1. Common defect analysis

1. Mold deviation: This defect is mainly caused by inaccurate mold positioning and is related to mold design and debugging.This problem can be avoided by using high quality steel to make molds and using accurate mold positioning.But the cost is high, the operation is complex, the efficiency is low.

2. Large rough edges: it is mainly caused by unreasonable mold structure design.Therefore, the correct mold structure is crucial.In the production process, the proper forming pressure will make the burr easier to remove.

3. Harelip: The hardness of the material is not appropriate, usually cause harelip, and the deviation between the product tool and the die cutting tool, will cause this defect.

4. Uneven wall thickness: it is mainly caused by mold dislocation, which is also related to mold positioning and debugging.


Mold selection

The material of the sealing rubber bellows mould is generally 35 or 45 steel. After forging, the die blank needs to be annealed to eliminate the stress after forging, reduce the hardness, and improve the cutting performance. The upper and lower dies should be combined for rough machining. After rough processing, quenching and tempering treatment 240~270HB, the core hardness should be 50~70HB higher than other parts.


Mould processing

The sealing rubber bellows vulcanization mold upper and lower die after semi-finishing should be drilled with the locating pin reaming, and after assembling with the locating pin, then finishing.The core is roughened and the 8-petal structure is processed by wire cutting, and then tempered.The split - lobe structure is spot-welded together for finishing.The size of the matching parts of the mold should be matched to facilitate the mold assembly and disassembly.If the rubber bellows material is fluorine rubber, the vulcanization mold upper and lower mold cavity body and mold core outer surface, the front mold should be plated with hard chrome.


Mold vulcanization

Core-pulling mechanism
